Indomitable Bangladesh

With the theme “Indomitable Bangladesh,” Power and Energy Week 2016 has started off in the country on 7th November. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated this week at International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged people to be efficient in using power and energy. Speaking of the current growth of electricity production, she expected the possibility to ensure electricity at each home if the ‘Vision 2021’ becomes successful.

She said, ‘The production of electricity and natural gas, as well as expensive, and time-consuming.’ She used to lessen the use of electricity and gas at her own residence, also urged everyone to practice this manner everywhere to save electricity at their home.

According to State Minister #Nasrul Hamid for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, this week is being observed to celebrate the national production of 15,000 MW of #electricity. ‘This is a great occasion for us. Bangladesh has entered a modern and digital era.’ he added.

A series of international standard #seminars has conducted in the week. A competition had been organised ahead of the occasion, where students from 50 universities participated with their innovative ideas and projects on energy-efficient and renewable energy projects. Out of these, 10 best projects has displayed in an exhibition during the week. A total of 320 stalls from 125 government and private organisations will display their products during the week.

The prime minister has distributed 10 awards to organisations and individuals, for making a significant contribution to the country’s #power and #energy sector. A documentary based on the progress of the country’s power and energy sector is served.

Member of the Council of Ministers, advisers to the Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, representatives of diplomatic missions and donor agencies attended the high-level government officials.
