Green Brick Industries Swaps Ever-polluting Technology

A convention on green brick has held on 11th December 2017 aimed at creating awareness among the people for the sustainable development of the country.

Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited (BIFFL) has organized the convention titled ‘Green Brick Convention-2016’.

Honorable Finance Minister AMA. Muhith graced the occasion as a Chief Guest.

‘Green Brick Convention -2016’ has been arranged, as a part of BIFFL’s national awareness campaign for Sustainable Development of the country. This convention brought together the environment expert, consultant & solutions providers, interested entrepreneur, financier, officials of different ministries along with development partners.

Program objectives

The prime objective of this convention is to provide a platform for the different stakeholders and relevant parties to enable them to get access to vital knowledge. Several Green Brick projects have been inaugurated at the event.

CEO of BIFFL, SM Formanul Islam said, there is no way to deny the urgency of reducing environmental pollution and social hazards by our traditional brick kilns. In Bangladesh, about 7,000-8,000 traditional brick kilns causes about 37% of pollution in the environment.

‘With an aim to build a greener Bangladesh, it is highly needed to spread the Green Brick Industries as an alternative solution,’ he added.


BIFFL is working closely in this sector for the last 2-3 years, already invested in 7 Auto Brick Projects. And about 20 more projects are waiting to come. The government has taken this sustainable issues sensibly and allocated a fund of BDT 1 Billion in 2016. It is for about 17 budgets for the wide-scale expansion of Eco-friendly bricks.

This convention was expected to supplement the Government’s agenda of the new eco-friendly technologies among the brick manufacturers. BIFFL has the vision to support a transformation of the ever-polluting brick sector into an environment-friendly sector by 2021!

Among other, Mr. Fazle Kabir, Governor, Bangladesh Bank, and Mr. Kazuhiko Higuichi, Country Director, Asian Development Bank was attended in this convention. Mr. Mahbub Ahmed, Senior Secretary, Finance Division and Chairman, BIFFL have presided over the event.
