‘Power and Energy Week 2016’ is being observed to celebrate the country’s progress towards the modern and the digital age. With an inevitable theme ‘Indomitable Bangladesh’ this Energy Week has started off on 7th November. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated this week.
It’s been observed to celebrate the national production of 15,000 MW of electricity.
From this initiative, the Government planned to educate the nation about mega-projects such as Rampal coal-fired power plant and Rooppur nuclear power plant during Power and Energy Week.
People have questions regarding these projects. This week conducted a series of international standards seminars on these issues, which has been streamed live on the website and the Facebook page of the Power Division.
Four international seminars would be conducted during the week: ‘The technologies of the coal-based power plant,’ ‘Smart grids: Digital Bangladesh and internet of things,’ ‘Energy efficiency case studies’ and ‘International best practices in power and energy sector: Lesson for South Asia and Bangladesh.’
Around Tk 10 crore had been allotted for an expense of the occasion, half of which was contributed by the private sector and the rest of the government exchequer.
A competition had been organized prior to this occasion, where students from 50 universities participated with their innovative ideas and projects on energy-efficient and renewable energy projects.
