Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is going to organize the 2nd Dhaka Apparel Summit on 25th February this year.

It will organize for setting the next course of action for achieving $50 billion export target by 2021.

The summit will be held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the single-day largest expo in the $28 billion apparel industry.

Brands, fashion designers, sourcing executives and experts from home and abroad, international organisations, employers, private sectors, workers’ representatives, civil society organisations, buyers, and academics will join the summit to share their experiences and gather knowledge about Bangladesh’s apparel industry.

The summit will also showcase the progress of initiatives taken to improve the safety standard and condition of the workers in the RMG sector following the factory disaster in 2013.

Vice-president to the Apex Trade Body of the clothing industry, Mohammed Nasir said ‘As a follow-up to the successful first Dhaka Apparel Summit, BGMEA is aiming to hold the 2nd summit of its kind on February 25, 2017’

The summit will also showcase the progress of initiatives taken to improve the safety standard and condition of the workers in the RMG sector following the factory disaster in 2013.

Through Dhaka Apparel Summit 2016, Bangladesh will present its progress on fire, electrical and structural safety made in last one year after the Rana Plaza incident. It also will focus the initiatives taken to ensure a sustainable development for RMG sector.

In the past, BGMEA used to organise BATEXPO (Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exposition) to make Bangladesh familiar with the global buyers as an RMG producing and exporting country.

By now, Bangladesh is known across the globe as the maker of best and quality products. At this stage, the country needs more branding.
